How to connect a sales channel
Connecting a channel authorises SECND to read and manage listings on your behalf. Connect your highest-volume channel first, import before you publish, and check the account-level settings each marketplace requires before your first listing goes out.

What connecting actually does
For API channels, you sign in to the marketplace and grant SECND permission. The marketplace issues a token; your password is never stored, and you can revoke access from the marketplace side at any time. For channels without a seller API, the Chrome extension works through your existing signed-in browser session.
Connecting alone changes nothing on the marketplace. No listings are created, edited or removed until you explicitly publish.
Which order to connect in
- 1
Your highest-volume channel first
Wherever most of your sales already happen. Getting one channel fully correct teaches you the model.
- 2
Import its existing listings
Before publishing anything. This is what lets SECND delist those listings later.
- 3
Then your POS
So floor sales start delisting online listings. For a store, this is usually the highest-value connection.
- 4
Then the rest
Additional marketplaces, one at a time, importing each before publishing.
Check these before your first listing
- Shipping: each marketplace needs to know what you charge and how you ship. A missing shipping policy is the most common first-listing failure.
- Returns: set your policy on the marketplace side; several platforms will not accept a listing without one.
- Payments: confirm the marketplace has a valid payout method, or your sales will process but your money will not move.
- Categories: check that your default category mapping is sensible for your inventory. Wrong category is why a listing gets no impressions.
- Business policies: eBay in particular requires policies to exist before listings can reference them.
When a connection breaks
Connections expire or get revoked — a password change, a marketplace security event, a token with a fixed lifetime. SECND surfaces a disconnected channel rather than silently failing, because a channel that has stopped syncing is a channel that has stopped delisting.
Reconnecting is the same flow as connecting, and it does not affect your existing listings or their history.
Per-channel walkthroughs
Frequently asked questions
Does connecting change my existing listings?
No. Connecting is read-and-authorise only. Nothing on the marketplace changes until you publish or delist deliberately.
Can I disconnect a channel later?
Yes, from SECND or by revoking access on the marketplace. Your listings stay live on the marketplace; you lose the syncing and delisting.
Why does one marketplace need the Chrome extension?
Because it does not publish a seller API. The extension acts through your own signed-in session, which is the only mechanism available on those platforms.
How many channels should I actually be on?
Fewer than you think, chosen for category fit. Six well-maintained channels that match your inventory beat twelve where your items do not belong — and every extra channel is more listings to keep accurate.
